Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of statepension.org (the "Site"). By visiting the Site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
1. About this Site
StatePension.org is an independent online information resource focused on the UK State Pension. It is operated as a non-commercial editorial project. References to "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operators of StatePension.org. References to "you" mean any visitor to the Site.
2. Information, not advice
The content of the Site, including the calculators, is provided for general information only. It is not financial, legal, tax, or professional advice. It does not take account of your personal circumstances and is not a personal recommendation. Before making decisions about your State Pension, National Insurance contributions, or retirement planning, you should consult a regulated adviser or use the official services described in our disclaimer.
3. Acceptable use
You may use the Site for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- Copy, redistribute, or republish substantial portions of the Site without permission, except as permitted by section 5 below.
- Scrape or extract data in a way that places undue load on our servers or interferes with normal operation.
- Frame, mirror, or otherwise present the Site as your own.
- Attempt to access non-public areas, defeat security controls, or introduce malware.
- Use the Site, or any tool on it, to advise or transact on behalf of others as if it were a regulated service.
4. Account-free access
The Site does not require an account, sign-in, or registration. We do not collect names, addresses, or other identifying information from visitors who simply read the content or use the calculators.
5. Intellectual property
The content of the Site — text, layout, illustrations, calculators, and code — is owned by us or used under licence. You may:
- Read and print pages for your own personal use.
- Quote short extracts (a paragraph or two) for non-commercial use, provided you credit "StatePension.org" with a link to the original page.
You may not republish whole articles, copy the calculators or the policy data behind them, or use any part of the Site to train commercial machine-learning models, without prior written permission. UK Crown Copyright rules apply to the underlying government information we link to and quote.
6. Calculators
Our calculators run in your browser using the rules current at the time the page was reviewed. They make simplifying assumptions documented on each tool page. Outputs are estimates, not guarantees. They cannot account for individual factors such as contracted-out periods, transitional protections, partial residence, or future changes to legislation. You should not rely on calculator output as the sole basis for any major financial decision; always cross-check with the official forecast at gov.uk/check-state-pension.
7. Third-party links and advertising
The Site links to government, charity, and commercial websites operated by third parties, and displays advertising provided by Google AdSense and its partners. We do not control the content of third-party websites or the specific ads served, and we are not responsible for them. Inclusion of a link or an ad is not an endorsement.
8. Privacy and cookies
Our handling of personal data is set out in the privacy policy. The cookies and similar technologies in use, including Google Analytics and Google AdSense cookies, are listed on the cookie policy. By continuing to use the Site after reviewing those pages, you consent to the use of cookies as described, subject to your right to opt out at any time.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the Site available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. The Site may be unavailable at times for maintenance, updates, or for reasons outside our control. We may withdraw, change, or remove content from the Site without notice.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Site is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, currency, or fitness for purpose of any content or calculator output, beyond what is required by law. We are not liable for:
- Any decision you make in reliance on the Site.
- Indirect or consequential losses, including lost income, lost savings, or missed deadlines.
- Errors caused by changes in law that occur after a page was last reviewed.
- Issues caused by your device, browser, network, or assistive technology.
- Loss or damage caused by malicious third parties using third-party services we link to.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for fraud or for personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any third-party claim arising from your misuse of the Site or breach of these terms.
12. Changes to the Site and to these terms
We update content regularly to reflect rate changes, legislation, and reader feedback. We may also update these terms from time to time. The current version is always the one published at this URL, with the "Last reviewed" date at the top of the page. Material changes to these terms will be flagged on the home page for at least one month after publication. Continued use of the Site after a change takes effect counts as acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes arising from the Site or these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [Jurisdiction], except where consumer protection laws in your country of residence give you a different right.
14. If you live outside the UK
The content of the Site is written for the UK State Pension system and is intended for a UK audience. If you access the Site from another country, you are responsible for compliance with local law. The information may not be accurate or applicable to non-UK pension systems.
